Texas Workforce Commission Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Services helps Texans with physical, cognitive, mental health, or sensory disabilities prepare for, obtain, maintain, and advance in competitive employment. Services are free and individualized based on each person's employment goals and needs. A VR counselor works with each eligible individual to develop a personalized employment plan that may include vocational counseling and career assessment, job skills training, college or trade school assistance, assistive technology, therapy services including physical, speech, and psychological therapy, job placement support, and accommodation assistance. Specialized programs include Transition Services for students ages 14–22 preparing for life after high school, the Blind Services Program for adults who are legally blind seeking employment or independent living, and the Older Individuals Who Are Blind Program for adults 55 and older. Services are delivered through Texas Workforce Solutions offices statewide. To apply, complete the online Start My VR referral form or contact your nearest local office.
