Founded in 1980, the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence (GCADV) is Georgia's federally recognized statewide coalition representing over 50 domestic violence organizations and programs. GCADV connects survivors to local member programs offering emergency shelter, legal advocacy, transitional housing, economic support, and counseling services across all of Georgia. The 24-hour statewide domestic violence hotline (1-800-334-2836) connects callers directly to their nearest local program. GCADV also advocates for survivors who are incarcerated through its Justice for Incarcerated Survivors initiative, addresses the needs of historically marginalized communities including LGBTQ+ survivors and immigrants, and has championed key Georgia legislation including the Survivor Justice Act and an Address Confidentiality Program for survivors. GCADV's work is explicitly grounded in addressing the root causes of domestic violence including racism, misogyny, and LGBTQ+ discrimination — making it a particularly strong fit for Black women survivors.
