Margins: Women Helping Black Women is an Alabama-based community care organization that supports Black women, Black gender-expansive people, parents, caregivers, and families through food, housing, childcare, and direct support. The organization focuses on building “infrastructures of care” so Black women and their families can access nourishing food, safe housing, reliable childcare, community support, and resources without shame, surveillance, or unnecessary barriers. Margins’ work is especially centered in the Birmingham, Alabama metro area and supports people navigating overlapping challenges such as economic hardship, housing instability, utility shutoffs, family disruption, and crisis needs.
