The New York Urban League (NYUL) works to close the African American achievement gap through education initiatives targeting underserved youth in New York. Programs include STEM/STEAM programming for younger students, the Code Next computer science program for Black and Latino high schoolers (meeting every Saturday), a Parent's Guide to STEAM, and an Annual HBCU Fair connecting students with historically Black colleges and universities. The Whitney M. Young Jr. Scholarship Program awards one-time scholarships ranging from $1,500 to $5,000 to college-bound students. The Education page also maintains a curated list of external scholarship opportunities for diverse and underserved students, including the Gates Scholarship, UNCF, Jackie Robinson Foundation, Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Thurgood Marshall Scholarship, Black Girls Advance, and New York state-specific awards like the Excelsior Scholarship and NYS Scholarship for Academic Excellence. Internship and fellowship opportunities are also listed. NYUL is located in Harlem and serves New York City and surrounding communities.
