The M-NCPPC Department of Parks and Recreation Disability Services Team offers therapeutic recreation programs for Prince George's County, Maryland residents with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities. Programs include adapted aquatics (AquaTone, AquaFit, and Learn-to-Swim), after-school and summer day camps, art, fitness, nature programs, and performing arts. The C.H.O.I.C.E.S. program provides free and low-cost weekday recreational and social activities for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Teen and Adult Social Clubs meet twice monthly for community outings and events. The Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies program is free for eligible veterans with a 10% or greater service-connected disability and includes a one-year fitness pass, personal training, and recreational events. The YouFit Scholarship provides summer camp funding for youth ages 21 and under with a disability. Inclusion services include sign language interpreters, assistive listening devices, sensory tools, audio description, and trained support staff. Reasonable accommodations can be requested at least two weeks before a program start date.
