Workforce Solutions Alamo administers the Child Care Services (CCS) program for families in 13 Texas counties: Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Medina, McMullen, and Wilson. Eligible families receive child care scholarships (subsidies) to help cover the cost of care while parents work, attend school, or participate in job training. To qualify, the child must be a U.S. citizen or legal immigrant under age 13 (or under 19 with a disability), reside in the household, and the family's gross income must fall within program guidelines based on household size. Single parents must work or be in training at least 25 hours per week; two-parent households must have a combined 50 hours. Enrollment is subject to available funding and a waitlist is currently active. Parents can apply to the waitlist through the Texas Workforce Commission portal. Changes in income, family size, or address must be reported within 14 calendar days.
