Sisterhood Transitional Housing is a program of Black Mothers in Power (BMIP), a Delaware-based nonprofit rooted in Black maternal health and reproductive justice. The program provides safe, stable, and fully furnished shared housing for women, birthing people, and primary caregivers with at least one child, who are experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, unsafe living conditions, or the effects of trauma. Residents typically stay 6–12 months and receive case management and care coordination, employment readiness and job support, parenting, budgeting, and life-skills workshops, access to mental health and substance use resources, doula and postpartum support through BMIP, transportation assistance, and connections to long-term housing. The program operates on a trauma-informed, healing-centered, anti-racist framework and is fully integrated into Delaware's statewide Coordinated Management Information System through the Delaware Housing Alliance. Priority is given to families with the greatest need. Spaces are limited and applications are accepted through an online screening form. Funded by Christiana Care.
