Founded in 2012, Black Girls Smile, Inc. is a national nonprofit dedicated to advancing the mental health and well-being of young Black women and girls. Since its founding, the organization has supported over 10,000 Black women and girls nationally, gifted more than 2,000 therapy hours, and served 250+ students directly. Programs include school-based mental health workshops and SEL coaching, parent and caregiver support groups, educator trainings grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive care, monthly in-person and virtual support groups (including queer-affirming and grief-focused spaces), and a Therapy Assistance Program that connects participants to culturally responsive therapists while removing financial barriers. Community events and wellness activations create accessible healing spaces centered on joy and collective care. The She's Mentally Well program and online workshops through their Teachable platform extend their reach digitally.
