Shakeara R. Abney, MS, LAPC, CTP, LBS

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what brought you to therapy. We will talk about your current concerns, what you hope to gain from therapy, important aspects of your background and relationships, and the experiences that have shaped you. You will not be expected to tell your entire story or discuss anything before you are ready. I believe therapy should move at a pace that feels safe and appropriate for you. We will work together to identify goals and determine how therapy can best support you. Most importantly, the first session is not about having all the answers. It is about creating a foundation of trust, understanding, and collaboration. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, respected, and supported as we begin the process of understanding your story and creating meaningful change.
